In the number one spot as the country that is most likely to lift the World Cup trophy in 2022, is Brazil. In the 2018 World Cup held in Russia, Brazil only managed to make it to the quarter-finals before being kicked out after a defeat to Belgium. However, this time around, the players on the Brazilian team are nothing short of superstars.

To name a few, in the attacking role, there is one of the most respected players in the world, Neymar, who is currently playing for PSG and is in fantastic form. Their goalkeeper, Alisson, plays for Liverpool and has made a name for himself as one of the best keepers in the premier league. In the midfield, Manchester United star Casemiro looks like he will be able to dominate the center of the pitch and create chances for the Brazilian forwards to convert into goals. Amongst these forwards, there is Richarlison, who currently plays for Tottenham. He is a player whom many people see as having an extremely bright future at the highest level of football. Alongside him is the forward from Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus, as well as Real Madrid’s superstar player, Vinicius Jr.

It’s hard to say whether or not these superstars will come together to play as a formidable team, but it is easy to see why so many people have their eyes on Brazil as the favorite. Brazilians watching from all around the world have confidence that 2022 will be the year that they will lift the trophy, so expectations are high.

Argentina

The team that is second most likely to win the 2022 World Cup in Argentina. They have a fantastic roster as well as arguably the best player to have ever played the game, Lionel Messi. After a disappointing 2018 World Cup performance by Argentina, who were knocked out in the round of the last 16, by France, who went on to actually win the World Cup, this year they hope that it will be their time to shine. If Argentina does manage to win it all, it will be the first time since 1986. There is a lot of speculation around whether or not this will be Lionel Messi’s last ever world cup which puts even more pressure and expectation for a good performance. Argentina will be hoping that Messi will be able to add a World Cup title to his long list of accomplishments and accolades.

France

At Number three on this list is France, the previous winners of the World Cup. You might be wondering why they are so low down on this list, considering they lifted the trophy at the last tournament; however, many people are not as confident in the squad this year. France does undoubtedly have some special talents on their side, with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, the PSG superstar who scores goals for fun, as well as the veteran striker Karim Benzema. However, when compared with some of the other teams on this list, they don’t quite match up. This isn’t to say that France doesn’t have a very strong team still and if you look back at any World Cup tournament, it is clear that anything can happen. If France does manage to win, it will be the first time that a team has been able to defend the title of being World Cup winners since 1962, when Brazil won the title back to back. It will also be the first-ever World Cup for Kylian Mbappe, and if France wins, he will have achieved the greatest feat in football at the age of just 23.
