7. David Zdrilic

David Zdrilic played 395 times for the likes of Sydney United, SSV Ulm and Aberdeen whilst finding the net 95 times overall.

6. Attila Abonyi

Winger Attila Abonyi is one of the best Australian Soccer goalscorers of all-time. He played for various teams including Melbourne Hungaria and St George Budapest, scoring 123 club goals in 188 appearances.

Abonyi made his full international debut in 1967, winning 61 caps and registering 25 goals for his country with 11 of them scored in just nine appearances across 1967 alone. 

5. John Aloisi

John Aloisi featured most notably for English clubs Portsmouth and Coventry City along with Osasuna, appearing 439 times and scoring 119 goals whilst winning the A-League Premiership in 2010. 

Amongst the best Australian Soccer goalscorers of all-time, Aloisi won 50 caps for the national team and scored 25 times. The forward also claimed the FIFA Confederations Cup Bronze Shoe in 2005.

4. Damian Mori

Damian Mori is one of the best Australian Soccer goalscorers of all-time. He featured for the likes of Adelaide City, Perth Glory and Borussia Mönchengladbach, making 596 career appearances in total and hitting 334 goals.

Mori made his international debut in 1992, over the next decade claiming 45 caps for his country and netting 29 times. He formed a vital part of the national side that won 1996’s OFC Nations Cup whilst finishing as the NSL top scorer on five occasions. 

3. Archie Thompson

Amongst the best Australian Soccer goalscorers of all-time is Archie Thompson, who made his international debut back in 2001, playing twelve years for the national team and scoring 28 goals in 54 appearances. The forward’s most famous achievement proved to be the thirteen international goals he scored in a single World Cup qualification game versus American Samoa in 2001.

Thompson played 500 times at club level most notably for Belgium club Lierse, PSV Eindhoven and Melbourne Victory, scoring a total of 175 goals across his career. He won the A-League Championship on three occasions and claimed the competition’s golden boot in 2006. 

2. George Smith

George Smith spent the majority of his playing career at Australian sides Corrimal and St George Budapest, making a total of 193 club appearances from 1926 to 1943 having scored over 300 goals! 

Smith is considered one of the best Australian Soccer goalscorers of all-time. He earned just 13 caps for his country over a three-year period and yet scored an impressive 29 times. In 1936 alone, Smith netted nine times in just three international matches. 

1. Tim Cahill

Perhaps the best Australian Soccer goalscorer of all-time is Tim Cahill. He featured for English clubs Millwall and Everton along with brief spells in both America and China. In 2001 Cahill lifted the English Second Division, the MLS Supporter’s Shield for New York Red Bulls and the FFA Cup at Melbourne City. He scored a consistent 171 goals in 705 club games.

Winning 108 caps, Cahill scored a record 50 times for Australia, winning both the 2004 OFC Nations Cup and AFC Asian Cup in 2015. The midfielder was named 2004’s Oceania Soccer Player of the Year, nominated for the Ballon d’Or in 2006 and FIFA’s Puskas Award to honour his amazing long range volley against the Netherlands at 2014’s World Cup.
