Man United expected to table improved £60 million offer for Brentford forward Bryan Mbuemo

Having failed in their initial approach to sign Brentford goal scoring talent, Bryan Mbuemo earlier this month, reports have suggested Man United are set to table an improved bid for the Cameroonian forward, to the tune of £60 million.

Earlier this month, following the acquisition of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha in a potential £62.5 million move from Wolves, United were reportedly set to turn their attention toward Brentford finisher, Mbuemo, in a bid to further bolster their attacking options this season.

And as per a report from Duncan Castles this afternoon, United are set to imminently table an improved £60 million offer to sign Mbuemo; however, this would still fall short of Brentford’s sizeable £70 million valuation of the goalscoring ace.

More than just a tenuous interest in signing Mbuemo, according to reports from The Athletic this week, United are expected to turn their full attention to the Cameroonian forward, having completed their first deal of the summer in the form of Cunha earlier this month.

Enjoying his breakout season in London last season, Mbuemo, who joined Yoane Wissa in an impressive partnership following the departure of Ivan Toney ,scored a bucket load of goals for The Bees.

Netting a stunning 20 times in all competitions last season, Mbuemo was even nominated for the Player of the Season award toward the end of the campaign.

A current Cameroon international, Mbuemo has scored six goals for the side in 22 appearances, having played for France during his underage years.

According to Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano, as recent as this week, Tottenham Hotspur have also internally discussed a potential deal to sign Mbuemo, following the appointment of Thomas Frank from Brentford as their new head coach this month.

But as far as he’s concerned, Man United remain in pole position to land Mbuemo’s signature; however, dealing with Brentford at the negotiating table has proven rather “difficult” for the Old Trafford outfit.

“For sure, there is appreciation from Thomas Frank, so it is normal to discuss Mbeumo at Tottenham because it is a name they discussed internally as soon as he signed his contract, so it’s obviously a football decision,” Romano told Give Me Sport this week.

“But, my understanding is Man United remain in control of the situation, they remain in conversation with Brentford, club to club talking on almost a daily basis, they’re trying to find a solution, we know with these clubs like Brentford and Brighton, it is always difficult to negotiate for their top players. So it is not easy to reach an agreement, but Man United are on that.

Following the conclusion of a deal with Mbuemo, depending on future outgoings this summer, Man United are reportedly set to turn their attention to a deal to sign an out-and-out striker – in a bid to further add to their shoddy output.
