Man United closing as narrow betting favorites to beat Brentford in Premier League return

Set for their first action since the end of the international break, struggling Man United are currently riding a narrow betting line to bring an end to their domestic slump against the travelling Brentford ahead of their Premier League clash on Saturday.

Returning to action for the first time since holding high-flying Aston Villa to a goalless draw before splitting up for the last two weeks, United will be under the guidance of Dutch coach, Erik ten Hag for their return against Brentford this weekend, with the former Ajax man narrowly keeping his job as head coach according to reports.

And ahead of the clash with Thomas Frank’s side, Man United are narrow -155 betting favorites at the time of publication to beat Brentford, with fans of Aussie online casinos and other gambling sports able to avail of an interesting betting underdog line of +350.

Without a win since their Carabao Cup thrashing of Barnsley over a month ago, Man United have been held by both FC Twente and FC Porto in their UEFA Europa League outings, before dropping three goals apiece against both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur – go with draws with Villa and Crystal Palace.

Furthermore, a major candidate to potentially replace an outgoing ten Hag has been struck off the market this week, with former Paris Saint Germain, Bayern Munich and Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel inking a contract to manager the England national team from next year.

Expected to receive an injury boost, however, Man United are expected to welcome Moroccan full back, Nouzair Mazraoui back to action, while midfield prospect, Kobbie Mainoo faces a number of weeks on the sidelines through injury.

Yet to feature this season since his brief return in the UEFA European Championship final with England against victor’s Spain earlier this summer, left back, Luke Shaw may feature following the international break, with ten Hag providing a positive update on his return to action.

“We hope Luke (Shaw) can return after the international break quickly,” ten Hag explained. “I don’t know if it’s the first game [against Brentford], we’re hoping for [it]. But I can’t, in this moment, tell this with 100 per cent security. But, yeah, from now on, we have two-and-a-half weeks to work to that point. And, shortly after, he’ll be there.”

Sitting higher than United in the table so far this season, eleventh-placed Brentford enjoyed a free-scoring run in an eight-goal thriller against Wolves before the international break – with forward star, Bryan Mbuemo finding the net again.

And likely set for a potential audition this weekend at Old Trafford, the above-mentioned Danish coach, Frank is reportedly admired by the United board as a potential permanent successor to ten Hag – with the Brentford boss currently riding a 9/1 betting odds line to replace the Dutchman and become the next permanent boss in the United dugout – having guided ‘The Bees’ to Premier League survival following their promotion under his tutelage from home side, Brondby.
