Kalvin Phillips’ Premier League Transfer Prospects: A Look Beyond Manchester City

As the January transfer window edges ever nearer there is one England international in the Premier League who could be making a move to a different club. Manchester City maestro Kalvin Phillips may be seeking game time elsewhere after failing to capture the heart of Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.

Making Premier League predictions in the transfer market is always tough, nevertheless, we have cultivated a list of top teams Phillips could look to in January to escape Manchester City and get his career back on track. So without further ado, here are the transfer prospects of Kalvin Phillips, a look beyond Manchester City.

Newcastle United

Perhaps one of the more likely destinations for Phillips on our list, Newcastle United has the backing of an ultra-rich consortium and would be able to afford the England midfielder’s high wage demands.

Adding even more fuel to the fire is that Sandro Tonali looks set to be out of action for quite some time, leaving a defensive midfield hole in the Magpies squad.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has become renowned for getting the very best out of homegrown talents and he could take Phillips under his wing, giving him the confidence to get back to his best.

West Ham United

West Ham United

The Hammers are another setup that could look to save Phillips from his Citizens nightmare once the January transfer window opens, with David Moyes needing some extra ammo in his arsenal.

With European football firmly on the agenda at the London Stadium and matches aplenty, Phillips would provide West Ham with an extra option in their engine room and a wealth of experience of playing at the very top of football.

Whether Phillips would swap the North of England for the South may be the issue in this one, with the midfielder living and playing all his life in that one geographical location.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa is a team on the up and is firing on all cylinders under the mastermind tactician Unai Emery, meaning Phillips could see a move to Villa Park as appealing.

Could this be a match made in heaven? Potentially Phillips could definitely fit into life at the Villans and profit from the wealth of knowledge that Emery provides his team with.

Phillips needs as many starts in games as possible if he wants to make the Euro 2024 championships with England in the summer and Villa is probably the best destination for him to do just that.
