Man United betting favorties to sign Viktor Gyokeres as January transfer window looms
With the January transfer window fast approaching, Man United have emerged ahead of Premier League rivals, Arsenal to secure the services of high-flying Swedish striker, Viktor Gyokeres – with the former Coventry City forward’s head coach, Ruben Amorim set to kick off his own United tenure this weekend.
Gyokeres, who has once more lit up the Portuguese league this season as part of his second campaign with Sporting Lisbon, made a big-money move from Championship side, Coventry City following a prolific spell with the side.
And following the arrival of his head coach, Amorim at United following the departure of Dutch manager, Erik ten Hag, 26-year-old goalscoring threat, Gyokeres can be backed as low as +400 to make a big-money move to Man United before February 3. – for fans, these odds are just as thrilling as the minute by minute action of social casino games, which gives the sensation of strategic betting, a feeling of potential win and adrenalin.
Helping Lisbon to a stunning domestic title victory last season, Gyokeres would continue his goalscoring form in Portuguese football, netting a staggering 29 times in the league, as part of a season which saw the Swede score a stunning 43 goals in all competitions.
And in just 11 league appearances this season, Gyokeres, tipped as the next big striking threat to emerge in European football, has already scored an impressive 16 goals domestically – to go with 5 further goals in UEFA Champions League football – including a brace against Manchester City.
Failing to convert many a chance this season in the league and during their UEFA Europa League excursions, United, who parted ways with injury-ridden striker, Anthony Martial over the summer, have been relying on threats from young striking duo, Rasmus Hojlund, and Joshua Zirkzee – who joins from Serie A side, Bologna and a style which he appears far from accustomed to.
However, whilst many within the United fanbase are urging the side to splash a large sum to tempt Gyokeres to Old Trafford, decorated former defender, Wes Brown has urged Amorim to first give sufficient time to the above-mentioned, Hojlund to adapt to a new coaching regime before sanctioning a deal.
Rasmus Hojlund works hard and does everything to help the team,” Wes Brown explained. “I think his team-mates need to create more chances. He isn’t given the ball enough in the box to allow him chances to get the ball into the back of the net. He has every right to be frustrated because he just wants chances, but United fans still love him because he gives it everything.
“When a new manager comes in it’s a fresh start and Amorim has a great group of players to choose from. It’s up to Hojlund to get off to a quick start.”
Similarly to the aforenoted, Zirkzee, Danish striker, Hojlund made the move from Serie A last season to English football – scoring an impressive 16 goals in all competitions in his debut season for United, in a season plagued by numerous niggling injuries.
