Manchester United vs. Bayern Munich –

Sharing the Camp Nou back in 1999 chasing a historic treble following a prior Premier League win and an FA Cup success, Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United was forced to fight back from an early defecit against German giants, Bayern Munich from the get-go.

Without both captain Roy Keane and midfield partner, Paul Scholes, United went behind early on following a Mario Basler free-kick which flashed in past Danish keeper, Kasper Schmeichel.

Manchester City vs. QPR –

Clinching their first-ever Premier League title on the final day back in 2012, noisy Manchester neighbors, City would also score a stunning come-from-behind win over relegation fodder, QPR to lift the domestic crown.

Taking an early lead from Argentine full-back, Pablo Zabaleta, City were quickly pegged back by goals from nomadic French striker, Djibril Cisse, and then an effort from James Mackie as City’s title hopes looked in flitters.

However, with just moments remaining, Bosnian forward, Edin Dzeko managed to level the game with a header, before iconic forward, Sergio Aguero found the net in the last seconds of the game, sending the Etihad Stadium into raptures to land a 3-2 win and beat rivalries, Manchester United to the Premier League title. 

France vs. Italy –

Besting all their rivals to meet in the finale of the FIFA World Cup in Germany back in 2006, Italy and France went blow for blow – physically in fact, with early scorer, Zinedine Zidane seeing red in his final professional match after an infamous headbutt aimed at Italian defender, Marco Materazzi. 

Scoring a stunning panenka penalty in the opening half of their finale match at the Olympiastadion, Zidane’s opener was cancelled out by the above-mentioned Materazzi before their extra-time encounter. 

Winning a nailbiting penalty shootout with a 5-3 win, Man of the Match, Andrea Pirlo set the Azzuri up for success, with David Trezeguet missing the mark, before Italian cult hero wing-back, Fabio Grosso fired in the winning spot-kick past miniature keeper, Fabian Barthez to send the Coupe du Monde to Italy once more.
