Many players have dominated and outgrown domestic leagues, gaining legendary status on the continent whilst proving historic for their country.

7. David Beckham

Dynamic Midfielder and celebrity icon David Beckham is one of the best English Soccer players of all-time. He played most notably for Manchester United along with spells at Real Madrid and MLS side LA Galaxy.

Beckham made his international debut in 1996, representing his country across a thirteen-year period, as Captain since 2000 and winning a total of 115 caps. His most triumphant moment came in injury time – during a 2002 World Cup qualifying match vs Greece – scoring a free-kick to secure England’s place at the tournament.

6. Paul Gascoigne

Paul Gascoigne featured for clubs across some of Europe’s major leagues including Tottenham Hotspur and Lazio. He made 388 domestic appearances and scored 83 goals in the process. 

Amongst the best English Soccer players of all-time, Gascoigne became a global star at the 1990 World Cup, setting the competition alight with silky skills and driving runs, that saw England reach the Semi-final stage for the first time in their history.

5. Gary Lineker

Gary Lineker is one of the best English Soccer players of all-time. The striker played for some of the biggest teams in European soccer including La Liga side Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur. He scored a remarkable 238 goals across a sixteen-year club career. 

Lineker made his international debut in 1984, going on to win 80 caps and scoring an impressive 48 international goals – still the fourth highest ever goalscorer in England’s history. He featured at the 1986 World Cup and was awarded a Golden Boot as the competition’s top scorer. Four years later at Italia 90 he scored an equalising goal against West Germany in the Semi-final.

4. Harry Kane

Across a stellar career to date, clinical forward Harry Kane has played over 300 times for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich, recently surpassing the 200 goal mark at club level.

As one of the best English Soccer players of all-time, Kane has represented his country in four major international tournaments since 2016 and is fast approaching a century of caps. 3. Wayne Rooney

Moore captained the England national team, most notably during both the 1966 World Cup (lifting the Jules Rimet trophy following victory vs West Germany) and also the 1970 campaign. 

1. Bobby Charlton

Undoubtedly one of the best English Soccer players of all-time is the sensational Bobby Charlton. The powerhouse midfielder was a Manchester United academy graduate who went on to play at Old Trafford for seventeen years. He made 606 appearances for United and remains the second highest goalscorer with 249 strikes. 

Charlton earned 106 caps and became England’s all-time top scorer with a tally of 49 goals. He drove his country to victory during the 1966 World Cup, scoring three times across the tournament including twice in the Semi-final vs Eusebio’s Portugal.
