2026 FIFA World Cup Quarter Finals Preview

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is reaching the business end, with just eight teams left to fight it out for the golden prize of lifting the Jules Rimet trophy.

France, Morocco, Spain, Belgium, England, Norway, Argentina and Switzerland all remain as the quarter finals begin.

France vs Morocco – Jul 9

Now-bookies-favorite France takes on Morocco in the first of the quarter finals with the #2 ranked French looking to progress to their third semifinal in a row.

African nation Morocco is no slouch either, with them making a semifinal at the last World Cup in 2022.

In fact, this game is a repeat of that semifinal in Qatar, four years ago. France would win the game 2-0 and whilst they are favorites across fans and players on this website once more, Morocco will be out for revenge this time round.

The winner will play either Spain or Belgium.

Spain vs Belgium – Jul 10

Staying on the same side of the draw, pre-tournament favorites, Spain takes on Belgium.

Spain, despite a draw with Cape Verde, have been as solid as they were on the way to their Euro win two years ago. Against Portugal the Spanish once again looked strong in all departments.

Belgium have struggled to wake up this tournament but their comprehensive win over the USA would say different. The Red Devils now have their hardest test facing Spain.

The winner will face either France or Morocco.

Norway vs England – Jul 11

Onto the other side of the draw where Norway face England with both teams looking to take the next step.

Norway are enjoying their best World Cup, defeating Brazil in the last round with Erling Haaland netting both games. Now, the Nordics look to stop an England side determined to make another final.

England beat Mexico in Mexico City after spending a lot of the second half with 10 men. The Three Lions are growing into the tournament but face another big test against the red-hot Norway team.

The winner will face either Argentina or Switzerland.

Argentina vs Switzerland – Jul 12

Argentina plays Switzerland in the final quarter final with the South American side still hoping to go back-to-back at World Cup finals.

Lionel Messi’s Argentina are yet to impress this summer and had to come from 2-0 down to beat Egypt to get to this stage. Now the team must take another step and beat a Switzerland team that have been resilient throughout.

Switzerland were taken to penalties by Colombia and whilst they have not set the world alight, have been solid all this tournament. Now, the European nation faces their biggest test yet as they look to beat the World Champions.

The winner of this game will face either England or Norway.
