Arsenal vs Chelsea Betting Preview

It’s a rivalry that is often overlooked when discussing some of the very best in English football – and yet, Arsenal and Chelsea still loathe one another as much as they did all those years ago.

For Arsenal, any hope of a legitimate title push is fading further and further into obscurity. Now, their only realistic trophy prospect is in the Champions League, which is what they may well dedicate most of their time to if things continue to go south in the next few weeks.

As for Chelsea, they also have ambitions of lifting a European trophy – in the Conference League. While they would’ve hoped for something a bit bigger this season, it won’t exactly hurt to get a bit more silverware under their belt. With that being said, the real priority will be finishing in the top four and returning to the Champions League.

In a game like this, it truly is a case of ‘anything can happen’. The fact that it’s at the Emirates will lead many Arsenal fans to believe they have the advantage but on derby day, logic goes straight out of the window.

Hopefully, we can try and make some sense of what is likely to happen.

When these two met at Stamford Bridge back in November, they played out a pretty intriguing 1-1 draw. It was a tight and tense affair and based on the recent form of both sides, we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see something similar happen here.

Free-flowing football and end-to-end action is the absolute minimum that we’re hoping for, but we also think this one has the potential to get feisty. Both clubs have players in their ranks that would be more than happy to cause a stir, and getting under the skin of the opposition is always key when you’re playing your rivals.

When it comes to an actual prediction, however, we’re struggling. We can’t see Chelsea coming away with all three points, purely because we don’t think they’re as strong as Arsenal throughout the core of their squad. Alas, can we see them desperately holding the hosts to a point after a difficult, gritty 90 minutes? Absolutely.

Arsenal aren’t immune to a late winner and they’re excellent at breaking teams down, but we do think Chelsea will be able to dig their heels in and just about hold them off. It won’t come before some close calls and some anxiety inducing moments for the travelling faithful, but a draw is definitely the result that we lean to the most.

With that, we think the Premier League title race will effectively be over. There will still be a mathematical chance of Arsenal pulling off the greatest comeback of all time, but with Liverpool playing like they are, this should serve as the final nail in the coffin.

Official prediction: Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea
