7. Gordon Strachan

Gordon Strachan

Feisty Midfield general Gordon Strachan is one of the best Scottish Soccer players of all- time. He played most notably for Aberdeen, Manchester United along with spells at Leeds United and Coventry City.

Strachan made his international debut in 1980, representing his country across a twelve-year period, winning a total of 50 caps and scoring five goals. He once registered a goal vs Germany at the 1986 World Cup and even finished 4th at 1983’s Ballon d’Or.

6. Billy Bremner

Billy Bremner

Billy Bremner predominantly featured for Leeds United from 1960 to 1976. He made 773 domestic appearances, scored 114 goals in the process whilst winning two league titles and being named FWA Footballer of the Year for 1970.

Amongst the best Scottish Soccer players of all-time, Bremner established himself as midfield master, uncompromising in his physical approach to the game and a bonafide cult hero. He won 54 caps for Scotland, scoring three times and remains one of the greatest Scots to grace English soccer.

5. Jimmy Johnstone

Jimmy Johnstone is one of the best Scottish Soccer players of all-time. The winger played the majority of his career at Celtic across a thirteen-year period. He scored 129 goals for the side in 515 appearances and was voted the club’s greatest ever player by fans in 2002.

He won nine league titles, a host of Scottish cups and the 1967 European Cup. Johnstone also finished third in voting for the 1967 Ballon d’Or. He won 23 caps for Scotland and was even inducted into the Scottish Hall of Fame in 2004.

He played over 700 times throughout his club career for teams such as Liverpool, Sampdoria and Rangers. His most successful period came at Anfield, where he won five English League titles, three European Cups and scored 55 times for the Reds.

Legendary striker Denis Law spent the majority of his playing career at English side Manchester United, scoring 237 goals in 404 appearances and is revered as one of the club’s finest forwards. Notably, he was also the European Cup’s top scorer in 1968/69.

Law is amongst the best Scottish Soccer players of all-time. He earned 55 caps for his country, scoring 30 goals and is their joint all-time top scorer alongside Kenny Dalglish. Law helped Scotland win the British Home Championship five times and awarded the Ballon d’Or in 1964.

The dynamic forward featured for just two clubs throughout the entirety of his career with spells at Celtic and Liverpool. He made 515 appearances at Anfield and remains the eighth highest goalscorer in their history with 172 strikes. The Scot won six League titles and two European Cups.

Dalglish earned 102 caps and is Scotland’s all-time joint top scorer with a tally of 30 goals alongside Denis Law. He finished as Ballon d’Or runner up in 1983, during the same season named PFA Players’ Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year twice.
