Djurgarden vs Chelsea Betting Preview
We’re down to the final four in the UEFA Europa Conference League and while a lot of people don’t give this competition the respect it deserves, we don’t want to fall into that trap. This is a legitimate part of the European pyramid and for the clubs involved, it serves as a big opportunity for them to get a piece of silverware under their belt.
In this instance, that’s the case for two very different teams – Djurgarden and Chelsea. On the one hand, you’ve got the Swedish underdogs who have scratched and clawed to get their way into the conversation. On the other, you’ve got Chelsea, two-time European Cup winners who will firmly believe that they belong back in the Champions League as opposed to the Conference League.
It’s an interesting encounter because on paper, this is going to be one-way traffic. Alas, that’s not how European football works, especially for a team like Djurgarden. They have done everything right en route to getting here and now, they’ll feel like they have nothing to lose. If they’re going to try and build a lead up, though, they need to take their chances in front of what is bound to be an electric home crowd.
For Chelsea, this is about continuing to restore the pride that’s been lost in a pretty dramatic way over the course of the last few years. They were once one of the most feared teams in both England and Europe and although it may seem small to some, winning a competition like this will restore some confidence in the Blues.
So whether you’re here to take a look at boaboa or you just want to know a bit more about the game, we’re here to break down what we expect to happen.
Djurgarden can’t be afraid to be a bit aggressive, especially in the opening 15-20 minutes or so. We aren’t saying they should completely throw caution to the wind because that’s going to get them in a spot of bother, but if they can let Chelsea know from the word go that they’re dangerous and can cause them problems, they’ll earn their respect and make this a much more competitive game.
With that being said, this game is here for the visitors to take. They don’t want to be too complacent and think they’ve already got one foot in the final, but from a quality perspective, they’re far superior to Djurgarden in pretty much every way.
The hope here is that we get a game that requires some more work to be done in the second leg, purely from a neutral’s perspective. We do think Chelsea will be the ones who pick up the win, but we also don’t think they’re going to run away with it.
They’ll make hard work of the game and they’ll have to come through several challenges in order to get over the finish line, but we believe they will win 2-1, setting up what should be a really fun night – and atmosphere – when they head back to Stamford Bridge.
Official prediction: Djurgarden 1-2 Chelsea
