In a career that began during the pre-war era and was disrupted by the outbreak of World War Two, he still registered over 400 goals in approximately 300 club games for a host of Polish teams. Willimowski most famously scored four times against Brazil during a round-of-16 game at the 1938 FIFA World Cup.

7. Zbigniew Boniek

Midfielder Zbigniew Boniek played 419 games for the likes of Widzew Lodz, Juventus and Roma, scoring 113 club goals in total. He struck 24 times in 80 caps for Poland including two goals at the 1982 World Cup. Boniek won the 1985 European Cup with Juventus and finished third in the 1982 Ballon d’Or.

6. Ernest Pohl

Ernest Pohl scored 39 goals in 46 appearances for his country. During the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome he found the net five times during a 6-1 win against Tunisia.
