Man United remain betting favorites for summer Viktor Gyokeres deal as club hunt new striker

Struggling Premier League side, Man United remain the outlying betting favorites to complete a deal for Sporting Lisbon striker, Viktor Gyokeres this summer – in a swoop to bolster their attacking options ahead of next campaign.

Gyokeres, who is well known by current United head coach, Ruben Amorim – made his move to Portugal under the Portuguese manager, and immediately hit the ground running.

Moving from Coventry in a rather low-key move, Gyokeres has continued his stunning finishing rate this campaign, netting 40 goals already for the second season running with the league leaders.

And fans looking to find the best NBA odds, can also find the best transfer odds ahead of a busy summer window, with Man United sure to be the market for a host of signatures to add to their lacking depth following a dreadful season.

Switching largely between Danish striker, Rasmus Hojlund and green ‘ten and a half’ Joshua Zirkzee this season, Amorim’s side have failed to find the net on cue through these attacking options since his arrival before the turn of the year.

And set to be handed a war chest of sorts this summer, the former Braga and Benfica midfielder will also have to add to his finances by offloading a host of faltering talent.

Namely, according to reports, United are set to listen to offers for a host of a number of big-name players, including the trio of Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho, with the wide players all enjoying loan spells this season.

However, according to veteran journalist, Duncan Castles, a move for Gyokeres may not be as straightforward as it seems given his links to Amorim – amid claims the Swede wants to move to an outfit who can guarantee him major silverware.

He (Viktor Gyokeres) wants to go to a club where he can prove himself, where he can win trophies, and his assessment of where Man United are at the moment is that is not the option to take in a summer where he’ll be turning 27,” Castles said.

“He’s going to look at the clubs that are making him offers and pick the one that he thinks is the best place to demonstrate his time in England in the lower division and at Brighton weren’t an accurate representation of his abilities as a player, and that what he’s done in Portugal can be replicated in the English League or elsewhere in Europe. He will be available this summer.”

But it’s not just Gyokeres on the radar of United’s hierarchy. According to multiple reports, the club will look at potential options ranging from Alexander Isak, Jonathan David, and Nigerian goalscorer, Victor Osimhen.

One thing is certain, however, amid plans to build a New Old Trafford at the turn of the next decade, Man United will have to invest just as heavily on the field as behind closed doors in order to return to club to its past glories.

And in a bid to return to their prior dominant reign across football, Man United will most definitely need to bolster options in the mould of prior goal-scoring heroes such as Ruud van Nistelrooy, Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, and Andrew Cole.
