Man United see betting odds drift in UEFA Europa League race after collapse against FC Twente

After last night’s disappointing draw with Dutch side, FC Twente, Man United have seen their betting odds to lift the UEFA Europa League come the end of the season drift further, with the Old Trafford side opening their league format with just a single point.

Returning to UEFA Europa League competition overnight on home soil, Man United dropped a first-half 1-nil lead against Eredivise side, FC Twente, with a corker from Danish midfielder, Christian Eriksen cancelled out by a well-placed finish from Sam Lammers.

And with Tottenham Hotspurs’ impressive 3-nil win over Qarabag tonight, Man United have seen their odds of winning the UEFA Europa League this season drift all the way to +550, with gamechampions offering bettors and players the best information on some of the best betting offers and deals available in the market.

Starting brightly against the Eredivise side, Man United took the lead eventually on the stroke of half-time, with Eriksen continuing his recent run of decent form with a powerful effort just inside the area, rifling home into the far corner with his third goal of the season.

However, just 20 minutes from time, Erik ten Hag’s side were pegged back following a mazy run from Bart van Rooij led to a mistake from goalscorer, Eriksen, allowing the previously mentioned Lammers to sprint clear and finish well against Andre Onana at his near post.

And despite trying to force the issue late on with efforts from Joshua Zirkzee who forced a save and a deflected header from Harry Maguire, Man United were held to a draw – with ten Hag disappointed how his side failed to “kill” off the match with a couple of more conversions.

“Yes, you saw it,” Erik ten Hag said following the match. “Twente, it was the game of their life and they fought for every yard. And, yeah, we didn’t – 99 percent is not enough. You have to five 100 per cent. You have to kill the game, you have to finish it off.”

“We bring the game until the end, but you have to go for the second goal then you kill the game,” ten Hag continued. “When you have ambition, then you have to perform, you have to prove that point. Today, especially in the second half, I think we were too easy going, too complacent. We didn’t bring it over the line and as a team, you have to deliver this.”

Returning to Premier League action at home this weekend, United take on the previously mentioned Tottenham in a pivotal race for UEFA Champions League football already this season, with Ange Postecoglu’s side emerging as +450 betting favorites to win the UEFA Europa League this season – likely bolstered following their 3-0 shut out against Qarabag tonight at home.

Taking just one point off the London side last season, United battled to a 2-2 draw in January, with the former taking a 2-0 win in their home fixture last campaign early on in the Premier League season.
