Rasmus Hojlund ‘probably’ set to make Manchester United debut in weekend match at Arsenal

Manchester United have received a significant injury boost ahead of their Premier League outing this weekend against Arsenal, with Danish head coach, Kasper Hjulmand claiming summer arrival, Rasmus Hojlund is “probably” in line to make his United debut at the Emirates on Sunday.

Rasmus Hojlund, who arrived from Serie A side, Atalanta earlier this summer, arrived alongside Cameroonian goalkeeper, Andre Onana, as well as former Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount, however, a lingering back issue has prevented the 20-year-old from so far making his Manchester United debut.

Akin to his replacement in Bergamo, former West Ham United forward, Gianluca Scamacca has so-far failed to appear for the Italian side, however, in the race for a debut, the aforenoted Denmark head coach, Hjulmand has claimed Rasmus Hojlund will “probably” feature against Arsenal on the weekend.

“I’ve been in Manchester to watch Rasmus (Hojlund) train and he’s in full gear, so he’ll probably be in the squad for the weekend,” Hjulmand said. “There is of course a caveat, and he must show that he is ready this week.”

Highly-touted amongst his peers, Holjund, who netted 10 times in 34 total outings for Atalanta last season, has been backed to take some time to adjust to the physicality of the Premier League, in a time where United are in desperate need for an out-and-out number nine.

However, in terms of the overall golden boot race – which Rasmus Hojlund has even yet to enter, the Dane has been priced as high as 33/1 to follow in the footsteps of fellow Scandi striker, Erling Haaland and land the accolade in his first season in English football, with the Manchester City striker currently available as short as 2/5.

A host of bookmakers and markets – including Bitcoin bookmakers are offering odds on outstanding Premier League winners, including other props like the victor of the Golden Boot, and the Golden Glove at the league kicks into gear for the fourth game week.

With United without an out-and-out number nine throughout their opening three matches of the season so far, the Old Trafford side relied on a late winner from French center half, Raphael Varane in their opening week win over Wolves.

And against Tottenham Hotspur – whom themselves reluctantly offloaded English talisman Harry Kane to Bayern Munich this summer, United were notably left at sea up top, with wideman, Marcus Rashford completely isolated.

Reverting to a favorted left hand side position at Old Trafford over the course of the weekend in a come-from-behind win over Nottingham Forrest, Rashford set up United’s first for Danish midfielder, Christian Eriksen, before an equaliser from Brazilian midfielder, Casemiro, and winner from captain, Bruno Fernandes secured Erik ten Hag’s side a deserved three points against 10 men.

While French forward, Anthony Martial looks set to be afforded one last salvo with United this season, the arrival of the highly-touted, channel-running Rasmus Hojlund, should make for some exciting times for the Red Devils’ faithful, as they look to build on an impressive opening campaign for Dutch head coach, ten Hag.
