And just minutes into the second half, Man United took the lead on the night and in the tie outright, with Danish wing back, Patrick Dorgu winning a third penalty of the night, which Fernandes converted again.
Furthermore, Sociedad were then reduced to 10-men on the night, with Dorgu racing clear through on goal before he was tumbled over by substitute, Jon Aramburu.
And finally scoring his second hattrick of his impressive Man United career, Portuguese star, Fernandes flashed an effort into the far corner past keeper, Alex Remiro, putting the tie beyond doubt.
In stoppage time, some good footwork from struggling Danish forward, Hojlund created some space for him in the area, before he squared the ball back to Diogo Dalot, who then fired into the roof of the net.

Taking on Villarreal in the finale spot, United were dispatched after extra time via a gruelling penalty shootout, with current Fiorentina shot-stopper, David de Gea seeing his spot kick saved.
Back in 2017 to boot, United lifted their first European title since 2008, with Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan converting past current keeper, Andre Onana against Ajax to lift the title under Portuguese head coach, Jose Mourinho.
Returning to Premier League action over the weekend, United take on the struggling Leicester City on the road, where they will be reunited with former interim coach and former striking fan-favorite, Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The outing will come as United’s last of this month, before a trip to Nottingham to take on the high-flying Forest on April Fool’s Day next month.
