7. Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen

Across a fantastic career to date, midfielder Christian Eriksen has played over 600 times for Ajax, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. He has found the net an impressive 113 times throughout his club career. Eriksen has won seven honours including three Eredivisie titles, the KNVB Cup, Serie A and English League Cup

Eriksen. He was also voted Tottenham Hotspur Player of the Year twice.

As one of the best Danish soccer players of all-time, Eriksen earned 128 caps and scored 40 international goals. He was even named Danish Soccer Player of the Year on no less than five occasions!

6. Jon Dahl Tomasson

Jon Dahl Tomasson

Striker Jon Dahl Tomasson is one of the best Danish soccer players of all-time. He featured for the likes of Newcastle United, AC Milan and Barcelona whilst scoring 180 goals in 450 club appearances. Tomasson won a host of titles such as the Eredivisie, UEFA Cup, Serie A and 2003 Champions League.

He made his international debut in 1997, playing for his country across a thirteen-year period, winning 112 caps and scoring 52 goals. Tomasson was named Danish Player of the Year twice in 2002 and 2004.

5. Preben Elkjær

Preben Elkjær

One of the best Danish soccer players of all-time is forward Preben Elkjær, who over the course of 69 caps scored 38 goals for his country. He was named Danish Player of the Year in 1984, also finishing in third place as runner-up in the Ballon d’Or.

Elkjær played for German team FC Köln, Belgium side Lokeren and Hellas Verona in Italy. He scored 143 goals in 333 club appearances. Elkjær won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal along with a Serie A title in 1985.

Brian Laudrup

Brian Laudrup featured for a host of top European teams such as Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Ajax. He made 342 club appearances and scored 84 goals. Laudrup won numerous major honours in different countries including a Serie A title, three Scottish league medals and the 1994 European Cup. 

Amongst the best Danish soccer players of all-time, the younger Laudrup brother made 82 international appearances, scoring 21 times for his country whilst forming part of the team that won 1992’s European Championship, FIFA Confederations Cup three years later and was named Danish Player of the Year on four occasions!

3. Allan Simonsen

Allan Simonsen

Allan Simonsen is one of the best Danish soccer players of all-time. The striker played for some of the biggest clubs in European soccer including Borussia Mönchengladbach and Barcelona. He played 500 games at club level, scoring 204 and won two Bundesliga titles, a pair of UEFA cups along with the Copa del Rey. 

Simonsen made his international debut in 1972 and went on to claim 55 caps for his country in total. He was named European Cup Top Scorer for 1977/78, UEFA Cup leading forward a year later and even claimed the illustrious Ballon d’Or in 1977.

2. Peter Schmeichel

Amongst the best Danish soccer players of all-time, legendary Goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel made his international debut in 1987. Across fourteen years he made 129 international appearances which remains the second highest total in Denmark’s history. He was a crucial part of the Danish team that proved victorious at Euro 92. 

Schmeichel was named Danish Player of the Year three times, inducted into the English Soccer Hall of Fame and PFA England League Team of the Century. He played 648 times for a host of European clubs including Bronby, Manchester United and Sporting CP. Yet it was at Old Trafford where the Dane found most success, winning five Premier League titles, four English cups and the 1999 Champions League.

Michael Laudrup

Dynamic attacking midfielder Michael Laudrup is considered one of the greatest soccer talents to have graced the game. He played for some of the biggest teams in the world including Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid. Laudrup made 478 appearances and netted 119 goals. He won one Serie A, four La Liga honours, several Dutch honours along with the 1992 European Cup.
Laudrup is amongst the best Danish soccer players of all-time. He earned 104 caps for his country, scoring 37 times whilst playing an integral part of his national team’s success at the 1995 FIFA Confederations Cup. He was named Danish Player of the Year twice and Greatest Danish Soccer player of the last 50 Years!
