FC Barcelona remain big betting favorites to sign Man United forward Marcus Rashford
While news on the immediate future of Marcus Rashford has quietened in recent days, Spanish giants, FC Barcelona are still leading the lengthy race of contenders to sign the Man United winger according to the bookies.
Yet to make his return to the side, Marcus Rashford watched on while he dealt with an unspecified illness as his academy club dropped a disappointing 1-3 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion over the weekend in their return to Premier League action.
FC Barcelona firm favorites to sign Marcus Rashford
And linked with a host of both permanent and loan moves away from Old Trafford this summer, La Liga side, FC Barcelona seem best placed to sign Marcus Rashford this January — as online sports betting sites will soon feature their top picks for the English striker to land if he is to depart United this month.
Currently boasting impressive odds of 11/8 to bring in Marcus Rashford on any sort of deal this month, FC Barcelona are currently sitting better according to the bookies to sign the left-sided winger, ahead of Bundesliga outfit, Borussia Dortmund — who are placed as high as 13/8 to sign Rashford.
Yet to feature for United since midway through last month, Marcus Rashford was introduced late on in a UEFA Europa League trip to Viktoria Plzen — with the academy graduate’s effort levels in training sessions the week prior called into fierce question by new head coach, Ruben Amorim.
And with their home defeat to Brighton over the weekend, United have slumped to just two wins in Amorim’s first 10 matches in the Old Trafford dugout in Premier League competition, leading to bold claims from the former Sporting Lisbon coach that he is likely managing the worst United side in Premier League history.
“We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United. I know you [media] want headlines but I am saying that because we have to acknowledge that and to change that. Here you go: your headlines.”
As for incoming players at Old Trafford this month, reports emerged today detailing how United are set to lodge a package to Italian side, Lecce in pursuit of young Danish full back, Patrick Dorgu — with the left-sided player identified as a potential contender to take over from the faltering Diogo Dalot on United’s shoestring side of the pitch.
The pursuit of 20-year-old defender, Dorgu comes hot on the heels of earlier reports detailing how United were pushed aside in the market to sign either Paris Saint Germain full back, Nuno Mendes, as well as Bournemouth attacking defender, Milos Kerkez due to their current financial situation with PSR (profit and sustainability rules).
With PSR bandied about in recent weeks, it has led to claims United may have to sell off some of their most prized assets from their academy in a bid to fall in line with regulations — namely both Alejandro Garnacho, and Kobbie Mainoo.
Drawing links from Serie A outfit, Napoli, Garnacho — as well as England international midfielder, Mainoo have both been linked to big-money moves to Premier League rivals, Chelsea to boot, who appear to have both United starlets firmly in their sights ahead of a potential New Year title charge against league leaders, Liverpool.
