Marcus Rashford set for Aston Villa loan move as Man United star exits Old Trafford
Marcus Rashford is set to undergo a medical at Aston Villa this weekend ahead of a proposed loan move with an option to buy deal from Man United, with the English wideman set to depart Old Trafford following months of turmoil at the club.
Rashford, who has been yet to feature for his academy club side since December — when he featured in a UEFA Europa League clash with Viktoria Plzen, is reportedly set to make the move from Manchester to Birmingham, to link up with Unai Emery with his impressive Villa side.
Marcus Rashford set for move to Aston Villa on loan
And with betting odds currently slashed and suspended on some markets for Marcus Rashford’s immediate future, the 27-year-old is widely expected to complete his move on loan to Aston Villa before tomorrow night’s transfer deadline.
Agreeing a loan deal until the end of the season with the struggling United — who shipped yet another 2-0 loss at home this evening against Crystal Palace, the UEFA Champions League side will also have the option of exercising a reported permanent deal in the region of £40,000,000 to boot if desired.
Announcing the signings of both defensive duo, Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven before today’s clash with Palace at home, United are reportedly still in the market for a replacement for Rashford, with a host of names on manager, Ruben Amorim’s shortlist to bolster the side’s attacking options.
Notably, United have held talks with the representatives of French forward, Mathys Tel, who currently plys his trade with Bayern Munich — ahead of a potential loan move to Old Trafford before the window slams shut.
Furthermore, United have also been linked with a rather shock move for Villa winger, Leon Bailey, who has so far failed to impress majorly this season in Birmingham — following an impressive spell last season.
Speaking on Rashford’s imminent loan move to Aston Villa this weekend following his side’s toothless drubbing by Palace, the above-mentioned, Amorim dismissed claims he would “humiliated” if the former’s form took an upturn in his move down the M6.
“It’s not embarrassing,” said Ruben Amorim.” When you loan a player – and I don’t think it’s official yet – you expect him (Marcus Rashford) to play and improve, so there’s nothing humiliating there. I understand the question, but I’m just focused on my players, that’s all. When the window closes, I will be really focused on just our team and trying to improve our team.
“We have to improve as a team to score goals and we are trying our best to improve the team. “This market is really hard on the clubs to make some deals here. It’s hard. Then you have the urgency and sometimes, when you are in the moment, you make mistakes. We’re trying everything and we want so badly to improve, I want so badly to improve the team. I know what the team needs. Sometimes it’s possible or not, but we’re trying everything.”
Featuring 24 times in all competitions for United in a forgettable campaign, Rashford has found the net seven times this campaign — including a duo of strikes against Everton — which have come as his final netting for the club this season, at the very least.
