FC Barcelona remain betting favorites for permanent Marcus Rashford move
However, despite his move on loan to Villa Park, the best US betting sites are offering odds on Marcus Rashford’s next permanent club following the season, with La Liga giants, FC Barcelona the current 6/4 betting favorites to sign him from Man United.
Citing the club’s ambition under Spanish head coach, Unai Emery as the reason for his loan move to Aston Villa — Rashford’s lengthy tenure at United comes to an end — albeit for the time being, following a tumultuous spell under new head coach, Ruben Amorim since his arrival from Portugal.
“He’s (Unai Emery) a top manager and what he’s done at the club since he’s come to Villa is unbelievable,” Marcus Rashford said. “It’s the constant ambition that’s attractive, and it’s why you want to join such a club. You want to keep improving year on year, and that’s what the team has been doing and are doing this year.”
“It’s a club that’s in a good position in the league, and they’re pushing to get higher,” Marcus Rashford continued. “Still in the Champions League, a good, ambitious manager and great talent in the squad. I’ve had to choose somewhere where I feel my style of football is suited to, and can help them and help me rediscover and improve as a player.”
Expected to permanently depart Old Trafford in the summer transfer window amid links to a move to both the above-mentioned, FC Barcelona as well as German side, Borussia Dortmund, Rashford stressed that his time at Villa Park is ultimately not permanent at the time being.
“Obviously it’s only short-term I’m here, so I want to make the most of my time here, and the only way to do that is by using my attributes and my skill set to help the team,” Marcus Rashford explained.
Asked his opinion on Rashford’s move following his side’s stunning two-nil loss to Crystal Palace over the course of the weekend, Amorim denied claims he would be “humiliated” should the English winger find his feet just down the M6 motorway.
“It’s not embarrassing,” said Ruben Amorim.” When you loan a player – and I don’t think it’s official yet – you expect him (Marcus Rashford) to play and improve, so there’s nothing humiliating there. I understand the question, but I’m just focused on my players, that’s all. When the window closes, I will be really focused on just our team and trying to improve our team.”
In terms of incoming moves in January for United, the club bolstered their lacking defensive options with Danish wing back, Patrick Dorgu joining from Serie A side, Lecce, as well as Ayden Heaven who joins from Premier League rivals, Arsenal.
