Liverpool vs West Ham Betting Preview
It’s always difficult to win a Premier League title, but every now and then, a team will crawl across the finish line and win the crown mainly because the rest of their opponents have self-imploded. For Liverpool, that’s exactly the position they find themselves in.
The Reds are on course to win their 20th English league title and their first in front of fans in over 30 years. Alas, the last month or so has shown that they’re really running out of gas as they approach the final hurdle. The good news for them is that Arsenal are their closest contenders and, in truth, they aren’t overly likely to cut the deficit between now and the end of May.
Arne Slot isn’t really going to care so long as they pick up the trophy and celebrate with the masses on Merseyside, but there’s certainly room for improvement as we look ahead to the summer transfer window. Even in this game against West Ham United, they’ll be expected to prove why they are the champions elect against a team that already seems to be on the beach.
So whether you’re looking for no deposit spins or you simply want to learn more about both clubs, we’re here to dive into this upcoming Anfield collision.
For Liverpool, a game like this should be about pushing the Hammers back into the final third and really going after them, but the fatigue in their legs leads us to believe they’ll be a bit more conservative. We expect them to be patient and wait for their opening, whereas at the back, you’d have to think they won’t have too much to worry about.
Virgil van Dijk, who should probably be suspended for this game after his elbow that went unseen last weekend, should be able to handle West Ham for the most part. With that being said, Graham Potter’s side are slowly starting to find an identity for themselves, even if it’s going to take the transfer window to really get their feet under them.
In the last few years, this would’ve been a really intense game between two teams with a whole lot left to play for. While Liverpool have the biggest trophy of all (domestically) still on their plate, it just feels like a bit of an anti-climax. As for West Ham, the only reason they aren’t in the thick of a relegation scrap right now is because Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton are so bad.
In terms of the game itself, we think Liverpool have enough to overcome a slow start and a questionable atmosphere to take the lead by a couple of goals. They aren’t likely to do themselves many favours from there, though, and they’ll probably invite a lot of pressure, giving the visitors a chance to work their way back into the game.
However, it won’t quite be enough, and the hosts will take another big step forward towards the championship – with deeper questions still lying on the surface.
Official prediction: Liverpool 2-1 West Ham
