Manchester City vs Liverpool Preview
This Premier League campaign hasn’t exactly gone as many expected – and two of the big reasons for that are Manchester City and Liverpool.
For the most part, Manchester City were expected to walk away with yet another Premier League title. Instead, they’ve fallen to seven defeats in their first 24 games of the league campaign. They’re currently down in 5th place, and for a team of their caliber, that’s a pretty horrific run of form.
While Pep Guardiola still has some incredible players at his disposal, it just feels like they’re a bit disjointed as a unit. Of course, not having Rodri for the rest of the campaign certainly hasn’t helped, but they should be good enough to mount more of a title challenge than they have done up to this point.
On the flip side, you’ve got Liverpool. With Jurgen Klopp leaving and Arne Slot coming into the mix at Anfield, there wasn’t much expected from the Reds this season. Perhaps a top four push, and maybe even a cup run. What’s happened, though, has been beyond the wildest imagination of most.
They won the Champions League group stage, they’re in the League Cup final, and they’re top of the Premier League table. At this moment in time, it doesn’t feel like there’s any other realistic outcome in the Premier League than the boys from the red half of Merseyside walking away with another league championship.
So, as you can imagine, there’s a lot of intrigue for the upcoming clash between these two sides at the Etihad. There’s even more intrigue if you’re a player looking for sportsbooks accepting crypto.
Manchester City vs Liverpool – Betting Preview
The obvious story here is going to be about who can make the most impact: Erling Haaland or Mohamed Salah. There’s a lot more to this game, obviously, but these are the two men who really have the potential to make all of the difference.
The good news for City is that this is at the Etihad, because if it was at Anfield, there’s an excellent chance that the atmosphere alone would be enough to get Liverpool over the line. But for Guardiola, he needs to treat this like a do or die type of situation.
If they win this game, it could change the entire trajectory of their season. We aren’t saying that’s overly likely, but it’s definitely a possibility. On the other hand, if Liverpool win, that’ll almost certainly end City’s title hopes once and for all.
In terms of how we think this game is going to go, we expect City to try and work the flanks, taking advantage of Liverpool’s struggles at full-back. Meanwhile, the visitors will work their way through the middle of the park, which tends to be where the majority of these games are won and lost.
We think Salah will be the star man once again, and while we don’t think they’re going to blow City out of the water, we do think that they have enough in their locker to take home all three points.
Official prediction: Manchester City 1-2 Liverpool
